Default IN-CAR CAMERA

Looking for some ideas on having an in-car camera fitted, needs to be cheap as possible.
I was thinking of getting some type of webcam and using my laptop to record it. The webcam I was thinking about is below and it would be mounted to the dash or the rear view mirror.

So any thoughts and ideas ?

Here is a link that what can be done with a webcam on a car.
YouTube - Testing filming with a webcam mounted on my car...

When you can buy a decent camcorder thats small and records onto SD cards for £150 (or under for Samsung!), I cant see why youd mess about like that?

was thinking about something similar tbh ..... the real beauty of it is that webcams are offensively cheap which means they can be sacrificial - mount it temporarily in the bumper to get that one one hot lap on a trackday or something. Doesn't matter if it gets battered if you get the footage you want first

Id use a B-Hague mount. A poor mans alternative would be a camera screw mount fixed onot a cheap toolshop dent pulling suction cup. I made one for under three pounds and it will not let go no matter where I stick it: which is more than can be said the professional camera mount that we took on the Scumball (I have as much footage of the footwell as I do the Alps).....
