Managed to sort it although no help from Tractive had to buy a high cranking battery
Check reponse from a guy who sorted it for me
Hi
Just to re-cap on our telephone conversation, after speaking to america (who were very very helpful and polite) they came to the conclusion that it wasnt a ''tuning'' issue i.e fueling/timing etc but actually a cold cranking issue.
They explained that the cranking voltage is not enough to get a clean signal from the crank sensor and it would be creating 'noise' (bad signal) so the ecu gets confused and doesnt know what to do. They also said that the standard ecu uses a different crank trigger setup and aftermarket ecus use a 'universal' setup, which is a problem with aftermarket ecus.
The main solution to this is to fit a high cold cranking battery, which are expensive and can understand that u would like to see it work before you shell out.
Another solution is to fit a different crank sensor (a 'hall' effect) which creates a lot cleaner signal inturn starting alot better. but this would mean finding a sensor that will fit and then modifying to fit etc.
After the chat with america and the way in which it was explained i feel confident that this is the problem, especially as they were more than confident it wasnt fuel/timing issue.
Any more info give us a tinkle
Bought this
Car battery information page! OPTIMA
Optima Red Top RT S 3.7 R (Reversed) (8035-255)
Its now starts
No thanks to Tractive who were happy to take my money but less keen to sort it out
Hope this helps
