Default What figures after remap on STI Blobeye.

Hi peeps..

I think I have finally found the STI for me just about to leave holding deposit...will stick some pictures up when I get it..

It's a UK 2003 STI - standard apart from up rated Panel Filter and BOV + a Afterburner back box still has CAT(s) in place.

After an ECUTek remap what sort of figures do you think I will see ?

Just roughly more or less then a STI with PPP ?

Ian.

About 330bhp, the exhaust can be a bit of a restriction.

you'll want an uprated fuel pump and ideally sports cat/decat too.

Doubt he'll achieve that without the uprated fuel pump and sports cat/decat.

An 03 blob doesnt need the uprated fuel pump or the sports cat for that, 330 is about as high as it will go because of the exhaust restrictions, note that JDM cars dont need an uprated fuel pump to run 360bhp but they do need an exhaust system (02 bugs on the other hand did need an uprated fuel pump for the PPP)

Would be a lot more acurate if people quoted wheel BHP Figures not the fly, there's a whole lot of difference in the quoted conversions rates between mappers, some say 16% some say 24%.

It's not all about figures anyway it's about how different the car picks up and pulls all the way through the rev range, not boasting that my cars got this or that BHP!!!!

Weird that as part of the PPP a fuel pump is included and that's to take it to roughly 300bhp. It's a UK Sti he's on about, so JDM doesn't matter.

The TSL333, PS package and everyone else all uprate the fuel pump, and the mappers recommend it too.

I'll stick to what i said before. Doubt he'll get 330 with a panel filter and cat-back exhaust.

Mine made 315bhp on Dastek rollers with a walbro pump, full afterburner decat, ported/wrapped headers, panel filter.

Agree Gaz your not gonna get 330 with that spec unless it's 24% Transmission loss which in most peoples eyes is far from realistic

The fuel pump was only ever apart of the MY02 PPP spec, not the blob eyes as they had an uprated part from the factory
The fuel pump is not needed until you start hitting the 380bhp mark, then its advisable to upgrade, but the standard item on the blobs is more than capable of 360bhp.
The trouble is that the exhaust is restrictive, 330bhp is about as much as you will get out of a blob without the exhaust being changed.

doesn't 24% come from dyno dynamics?

bhp figures on a dyno are known to vary, road dynos are unreliable at best, hub dynos don't take into acount mass of wheels etc etc.

you pays your money you takes your choice.

I don't know for absolute, but i was deffo told i needed an uprated pump as part of the Stage 1, from several well known people.

Wrong, they put an uprated fuel pump in as part of the ppp in 03-05 blob sti, there is no uprated fuel pump in the ppp for 03-05 blob wrx. if your still in doubt visit Prodrives website and download the Pdf files for PPP's

Your right, it does say that, but then go and have a look at the 2002 WRX STI think they have them the wrong way round (blobs had an uprated fuel pump from the factory )

I might be wrong but i would have thought 320bhp out of a standard STi after remap would be more realistic(not that i know much about remapping).

Like he says above though, it's only a filter and cat-back. Keeping the restrictive cats in i reckon he'll be around the 300 mark.

I'd do the pump as well Sammy. It's about £75 plus about £50 fitting. You'll need it if you want to get rid of those cats and take it further.

Go have a read of ALL the STI pdf's, then come back and tell me they are not cut and pasted! the MY02 car is THE only sti that required an uprated fuel pump because it wasnt strong enough when they added the PPP (think they even recalled the PPP cars because of it).
And i must add, its the first time i have heard of the MY06-07 cars needing an uprated fuel pump for 23ps

Just read the 02 & 03/04 STi PDFs and for the 02 it doesn't mention adding a FP and for the 03/04 it does. Are you sure you've not got it the wrong way around?

The 02 PPP cars were recalled because of it
