Default Newbee looking to Buy a P1 who needs some advice on a car?

Hi,

I am currently looking to buy my first subaru and pacifically looking at the p1 as I have always loved this type of car.

This weekend i have looked at 5 examples in my area. The most surprising thing is the price which does seem to be rock bottom. I need some advice on a car that i am keen on, its a x reg with 73,000 miles which has had a engine rebuild 20,000 miles ago. What is the going rate for this car? The issues that I need advice on are

-The passenger’s door does not fully close so when you drive you can hear wind noise, The gap is only slight but is this common?
-On the passenger’s seat there is a *** burn on the back part of the alcantara. Is this hard to repair or expensive to replace?
-On the p1 plaque in the engine bay it says Stage 2. What does this mean?

Your comments would be great and if you are interested in selling your p1 then let me know as I would take it off you this week!

Personally I would stay well clear of the car you are describing. Sounds like a right dog.
If you are after a decent P1 be prepared t pay upto £10K for a very good example. There are plenty out there, just take your time when looking and the right car will come along.

Hi Jbeck and welcome,

How much was the car you describe up for?

What sort of budget do you have?

There are plenty of P1's out there so do take your time and get the best you can for the money.

Personally i would go for a standard car, with the Prodrive (alcon i think ) big brake upgrade and little else done to it.

Check on service history (does not need to be a dealership and personally i would be just as happy to see stamps from a good non Subaru franchised place) and most imporantly does it look like it has been ragged to death/tracked.

Lots of P1's have had replacement engines, there was some sort of problem and many had them done under warranty/replaced so this neednot be too much of an issue
