The DBM P1 was repainted by the supplying dealer before delivery: was it from Leeds originally?

Nice one buddy is it identical to other p1s apart from the colour, or are there other subtle differences, love your car.

There are a few differences, but mostly benefits i think.
full prodrive recaro interior.
climate instead of aircon.
prodrive brake upgrade.
no passenger airbag(unlucky,i,m ok).
no abs.
intercooler water spray(auto and manual)
driving light upgrade.
full portfolio and service history and receipts from new, including all mags its featured in,also has the original test booklet from Prodrive signed by David Richards.
By far the best scooby ive ever owned and ive had a few(i would say that though)everyone goes on about engine problems etc etc but ive had it 2 years and its never missed a beat, and its used daily(not many miles though)i personally think its the same as any scooby,if you look after it properly it wont let you down, but it seems to me that there seems to be a lot of p1 haters out there who have started a myth and its stuck, making it seem like a no go area, but hey thats there loss.

Stevie333 love it mate, seen it for sale a few years back in the Bristol maybee southern england area, heard the rumours about it, all the usual is it or isnt it but it was confirmed as the prodrive development car and as you say above sounds like it has some of the good stuff they took off other P1's when they were imported, great car mate

Nah,i dont bother mate, everyone seems to have an opinion on it and in their opinion they,re right which is fair do,s.it always seems to be,its just an STIv,yip,so were all p1,s before they were p1,s.The main thing to me is,i think its ace and thats all i need to know, cos theres only me needs to drive it.But i do find it interesting listening to whats said about it,some stuff is just complete rubbish,BUT there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here, and new knowledge is good knowledge, you can kinda tell after a while who actually knows and who just think they know,i suppose everyone is entitled to an opinion, even if they are wrong .

I saw a quote on here the other day from someone at prodrive (mike wood?)

He explained about the white p1, said something along the lines of they couldn't wait for a development car to arrive and got stuck into the white one (which he had 'in stock' at prodrive)

Saw the DBM P1 for sale on a forecourt in Wakefield a couple of years back, it was up at £11995 IIRC. I told our doris 'W@nker thinks hes got a P1 but its the wrong colour, just a type R with badges and spoiler'.

Ooops!

Yeah, thats what he told me when i spoke to him about the car, they had a couple of white Sti v,s in stock and needed to get on with the development of the p1,so they used that rather than wait for a blue Sti v,as the colour WASN,T IMPORTANT as the car was EXACTLY the same model as they were going to make the p1 out of.There was actually another white one i the first week of development, but from what i gather there was a little accident with it,and then there was 1 white one and eventually 2 blue as well.

The P1s and the four door are/were on P1WOC at various times. If it's the same car, the mongrel 4 door P1 was created by an Aussie...

I would sell it mate, but looking at the prices cars are going for nowadays, nows not the time to be selling. If i could sell it for what i think its worth,i,d sell it right now because ive seen another i really want.(the prodrive prototype RB 320).But looking at what people say in all the (whats my car worth)posts on here you would think everyone is out to de-value all scoobys for some reason.I,m sure when someone puts a whats my car worth post on here it all evo owners that reply.Maybee thats another topic for a post.

The rot set in with dubious quality imports and the poor owner profile that that brought about. Unfortunately the value of your car is dictated by the price of the cheapest in /on Autotrader, irrespectiveof the condition of your car. Coupled with massive over-supply the prices were in freefall long before the price of oil rocketed, the governement decided to save the world through revenue generation and the economy went ****-up.....

All the above is very true i agree,if you are just after any old impreza, but if you want something a bit special or even just a well looked after example then its worth what you are willing to pay,i know i sold my last car to a lad from Bournemouth which is 5 hours away from me each way,and he said he had been all over the country and looked at loads of cars that were promised as being nice but just turned out to be average at best.i know if im looking for a car, condition is everything and i would,nt even bother with autotrader or the likes.I think if you are looking for a car to be your next pride and joy what you want is someone elses pride and joy and the place to find them is on forums like this or specialist sites like pistonheads, autocar is ok for normal cars, but even they realise that, thats why they have Top Marques as well for the proper cars.Point being autotrader may dictate the prices of some cars but not all.oh yeah, and if all people didnt sell their cars at such low prices, then the autotrader price average would rise therefore making your car worth more,i think cars are exactly the same as everything else nowadays, you get what you pay for.£2k impreza with skyline bodykit anyone.

I heard from a previous owner that mine was used by Richard Burns between stages, it was definitely owned by Prodrive at the beginning of it's life but I have not been able to get confirmation Richard drove it.
If anyone knows someone at Prodrive who would have access to information like this can they let me know.

Does anyone remember Richard Burns' STI?

I saw it for sale a few years ago. AFAIK It was given to him by Subaru or Prodrive or whatever and is the reason for the colour of the RB5s.
