I bought my Impreza Turbo from a main dealer in Oct. 2001.One owner, 36000 miles and fsh.At the time I bought it it became 3 years old so the dealer gave it a new MOT and serviced it. I have just looked at the service book and the dealer only gave it a 30month/37500 service thereby getting away with doing the biggy cambelt change! Although the miles were correct for the 30 month service it says in the book 'whichever occurs first' so I think they should have done the 36 month service. Anyone think that the dealer should do it for nowt?? or am I being unfair (and unreallistic?)I'll try and speak to them tomorrow.
Cheers.

IMHO
"Whichever comes sooner" is there for a reason, the belts and such become brittle/past their sell by over a period of time so i would have thought that you have a leg to stand on so to speak.

god luch

Zip, I had exact same problem when I bought my Turbo from a Subaru dealer, I had owned my car for 6 months and took it to a local dealer who told me that the 3 year major service had not been carried out before I bought it they just done a 30,000 mile service like you I was fuming so I telephoned the dealer and he told me that under no circumstces was he going to do it, As it states in the hand book 36,000 miles or 3 years which ever comes first, So after I had parted with a lot of money I wanted what should have been done and after the service guy told me it was not needed and my cambelt was ok for another 18,000 miles (this is despite Subaru saying 36,000 or 3 yrs) and with a little help from the dealer who was servicing my car I got on to Subaru UK who told the dealer he had to pay for the full 36,000 3 year service saving me around £500 I beleive your dealer should have done it before you got the car, if you are not happy get on to Subaru UK like I did those guys take no prisoners, If you need anymore help mail me off line.
Cheers
Colin
