Default Who would like a Technical "How To" Guide Section? Please Poll

Ive had a few recent posts with Admin trying to agree to a dedicated "How To" guide section, similar to other forums, which will give users access to quick click technical guides and links to DIY Mods or General Maintenance such as, FMIC installation, Walbro Fitting, or general Brake pad / oil changes / Trim and panel removal etc. rather than having to trawl through the multiple posts in the forums search facility. Being a SN user for 4 years its a great site but I find it increasingly difficult to find reference info when modding or maintaining my car. Admin have suggested that if the numbers are there that they will consider the request

For further info please see the link below, and feel free to post your comments so your voice may be heard.

I have to add that the How to Section places a great deal of effort on the members. You need to be ready and able to produce clear a how to (with photos) whenever you do any work on your Scooby.

They are VERY useful tools but only if people are willing to put in the effort.

Just how many people have examples ready?

Wouldn't take long to rustle something up.
I think there should be a beginner section (basic servicing bumper removals etc) to an intermediate section (rebuilds etc)

Bloody excellent Idea! I'd be more than happy to contribute to this

Nobody is under any obligation to provide or compile any technical information unless they want to and share it for the benefit of other users. Its purely sharing information and pooling info for the benefit off all. Obviously no one can be held responsible for any mis haps, mis-representation or **** ups, the info would have to be assessed by the individual and the relevant parts extracted by the end user. The frustrating thing I find is that the info is already existing on the site, generally somebody has already done it and its just finding the correct link to the info??

I have suggested that a section is formulated with the topics in alphabetical order, it would be very easy to vet and rate by Admin user comments. ie

A- Abs sensor changes
Alloy Wheel repair
etc..
B- Brakes and associated
Bumper and trim removal
etc..
C- Camber Settings
D- Down pipe changes
E-Exhaust changes
F- Front Mount Intercooler
etc..
etc..

You get the idea!, Classic or Newage it realy wouldnt matter, the posts started within posts would make it a starting point to negate the info rather trying to spend hours searching dribble.

Perhaps if there was a 'how to' section introduced, sponsors and tuning companies wouldn't be too pleased with Scoobnet and withdraw their adds etc.
Maybe that's why the mods aren't too keen on the idea.

Bob I see your point and knew this would come up for comment for the professional mechanics, tuners and sponsors livelihood, but sureley there is a clear line to be drawn for novice users to do a Walbro change and a professional remap?? Everyone has a technical limit? Its only a standard facility on most other forums and may even promote business or profesional services indirectly ? The web is full of accessable info from other forums, is it not sensible to pool it all for the benefit of others??

I have posted in your original post and looked at some of the links already posted re modding guides. If the mods don't agree to your request atleast we can use that thread as a reference to modding guides.

What's the script with Underwolds post.
