i agree would be good idea - and how about grading the "how to" in a kind of rating system such as 1 star for novice and approx time to complete, tools reqd etc...
just a thought

Yep good idea , but someone would have to assess, score, and wrate the difficulty of the task, some jobs would be easier for some (Mechanics) than others (Novice DIYers) If all the info was there and readily available then I think the individual could make their own minds up if they were confident and competent enough to tackle the task in hand by themselves or take it to a professional garage or specialist to undertake.

I think it is a good idea most of the "little" jobs you want to do yourself, especially the more capable (mechanically wise) people out there, the tuners will still have their custom as the percentage will be fairly small out of the ammount of users on here, but it will also give people an insight into how things are done and the sort of problems that are encountered whilst doing them, so that quick 1 hour job can actually be a long 6 hour job if it all goes **** up!

Added my vote.

Is it possible to rate/add feedback to the articles? Some info on here is down right contradictory, or are we reckoning anyone who takes the trouble to write a guide should know what they're doing.

Im sure someone will post a direct link to it eventually, precisely why these guides need to be properly indexed, especially when you know they already exist on the forum, very frustrating isn’t it!!So keep the Votes coming and let your fingers to the talking!!

I totally agree with the OP remarks about there being a real need for an area for all things techical and 'how'to' guides. In fact I think this could be even further expanded to include a genral FAQ section. Funnily enough about 2 years ago I had EXACTLY the same thought, but instead of just winging about it, I actually did something about it .

Cue several conversations with friends and ex-webby. In fact ex-webby was very supportive at the time about my idea and it was going all swimmingly. Oddly though, the idea was canned, ex-webby decided to change tact and announced ScoobyPedia. Whilst it was a great idea, it just never seemed to take off and is a poor relation to the great FAQ section that NASIOC and SIDC have.

To give you an idea what I was trying to do and to see how far we progressed, have a look at the two links below. Whilst they are now outdated, you get the general idea. Yes, they are not the how-to sections being discussed here, but I thought it worthwhile to mention that a lot of people do support the idea of something on SN and this was my contribution to attempt to alleviate the multiple questions that keep cropping up time and time again.

Excellent reference info! Be even better in a dedicated section! Im not sure what numbers in the poll are actually required to make this get sanctioned but it appears from the posts so far that its certainly required. Sorry to hear your last attempts didnt get off the ground guys Hopefully we can make a positive move forward this time

Yes I think it's a cracking idea, I'd love to be able to service my own scoob, change brake pads and oil etc.
I know alot of you guys can do stuff like this second nature, but there are lots of us that alwasys have to book the car into a garage for the simplest of jobs.

Great idea. They had on this on the Corsa-c.co.uk site when I was a regular member. As on here they have the usual Exterior, Interior, Wheels etc threads, and then below them, a sub-forum of how-to guides for each section. Take a look on there to see what I mean.
