Let me guess, you were near the junction for the A422 and A362 (I think it's Junction 11 on the M40) whilst on the M40. If so then it will more than likely be the Prodrive factory in Banbury that you saw.

That's it, Prodrive at Junction 11 of the M40. That's our trainees base, once they have qualified there we allow them to come and work here, close to junction 12 where the real good stuff is done.

Seriously, One of my senior engine builders left here for a job there on the Gp N rally engine programme. [ They allow him 2 weeks to build an engine ] He thinks he's gone to heaven, 2 weeks to build a GpN engine indeed !!
ANYWAY, some bird from Prodrive rang asking for a reference after he had left and gone there. :-
" Why did Mr X leave your employ? " " Cos you effin' nicked him that's why "
Not a single eyelash was batted. "Thank you for your candid comments Mr O'Brien, we will not call again to bother you "

It is my understanding that the Subaru WRC programme contract to Prodrive ended in December 2009 anyway.
So it's just ended a year early, possibly because of costs, downturn etc and lack of solid results with the hatchback...... possibly, - personal opinion.
Maybe a Prodrive person would spot this and offer an answer??
Maybe DR is trying to fund the WRC campaign by Prodrive privately, but with Subaru sanction
Just a few thoughts.

Had a trip to the local scrap yard nr banbury, was nearly in tears to see huge skips overflowing with gold prodrive wheels, all sizes and types but with huge holes drilled through them so they could'nt be re-used.

Wow what a waste, imagine the money they could have made selling them on!
