Careful mate, 4wd helps get you going, but as many have found out to their cost, it's not much use over 2wd when it comes to stopping!

Indeed found that out this morning on the work car park, was caught out big time. ABS saved the day, least I know it works on the car

i tried to slow down on the nlow this morning and there was so little grip that the ABS just kept going mental, i was barely slowing down at all - was like coasting to a stop

I found ABS is pants in the snow, when you dont have ABS and your skiding the tyres dig in to the road, snow builds up in front if the wheels and you stop. ABS is safe when it kicks in on dry roads and you need to turn, or stop safe.

When u get terminal understeer in the snow and/or braking isnt doing anything and/or u get that sinking feeling that u aren't in control anymore dip the clutch, helps alot. Failing that handbrake it 180 and give it loads of throttle to go in the opposite direction

Found this out when i first got my spec c, and the re070's didnt help on a snow covered road.
One dab on the brakes and it nearly put me into the kerb foot off and dipped clutch, had control again, drove very carefully after that using the gears rather than the brakes!

Great fun..!

I have to say I've got even more praise for the Goodyear Asymmetrics on my scoob.

As a 'summer' tyre they're bloody good in this cold weather, where most become appalling once the temps go below 6-7c.

I was actually sad when I saw the gritters going down our road this morning..

HOWEVER BEWARE, as said, it's very easy to get over confident with the amount of forward traction AWD provides, BUT STOPPING is another story..! Scoobs are no worse than any other car when it comes to stopping in icy conditions, but you will be going a lot faster if you get carried away with the traction abilities..!

Saying that, I do love the feel of my rear end hanging out a little..
