should I upgrade the P1 to a 993 Turbo 4?

Experiences/opinions welcome on this - obviously the t4 has the looks and the badge, but I wonder if I will really notice a difference in the way it drives as both are 4wd turbos.
It would be sad to see the p1 go, but I think it's time for a change...

Yes - still considering a left hooker 355 but am being put off by reliability horror stories - hence considering the 993. Also, now I've moved house and have a garage, I've discovered it is barely 7ft wide which is no good for a 355.
I figure the t4s are better value in this current depressed car market :-)

Book a test drive and find out?
I've often toyed with swapping the 22B for a nice 993 GT3, but tiny boot coupled with my fondness for throwing the 2 brats, the wife and a weeks worth of luggage in the car before going for a trip to the Highlands has stopped me doing so.

If I could afford to, I wouldn't think twice . It's a car I would like to own one day, but unlike Chuckster I don't have to worry about fitting kids in the back, or their luggage.

There should surely be no question... I'd go for it. Even if you hate it and sell it again in 3 months time, you are not going to lose a penny on it. Given mid Eighties 911's are still going for between £10-£20k - you have got a serious bit of kit, with little depreciation.
That way, you could go back to a P1 if you wanted and pick it up for even less!
Lets be honest now, Porsche have a considerably longer and more varied history, alongside superb build quality and a super car.
Just my 2 pennies

You may be a bit disappointed with a 993T4, especially after a P1. As it is based on the C4 chassis, it is a triumph of grip over feel. The steering lock is atrocious, and you've got to be driving seriously illegally to use even a tenth of its abilities. If you don't leave in an area with 'big' roads, like Scotland, you'd have more fun with a normal 993 - it's easier to unlock the fun.

Go for the 993 turbo - I would buy one of these if i could afford it over a 996 turbo/GT2. 408 BHP - 4 wheel drive, 0-100 mph in less than 10 secs + image/reliability/retained value. I think you can get a 2-3 year old one for less than 50k? I'm jealous!!

offered 8k to change the P1 today for a un registered evo 7 gsr very tempting. Test drove a normally asp. rwd 993 and found it fun but the P1 got the vote. But a turbo? My initial reaction is go for it! But after a while perhaps a different choice would be made! Considering the money and how good the P1 is in the first place and all that!
Hope you make the right choice for you.
