What are the parking inspectors at Brighton and Hove City Council on ?!
Okay picture this. Me and the GF away for the weekend in Brighton, parks the scoob in a parking space on the seafront (perfectly normal).
Buys a ticket for 1-2 hours, sticks it on the dash. Realises that it ain't gonna be long enough, so buys a another ticket for 4 hours and puts on the dash. This was 3 minutes later.
Come back later, within the ticket time to find a parking fine
The fine says "Parked with additional payment made to extend the stay beyond the time first purchased". WTF ? At the time the ticket was given I had not one, but two (!) valid tickets ?
What are they playing at ?

Presumably there are ticket issue times on both tickets (3 mins apart) and a parking ticket issue time on the offensive item? So you can show that you hadn't really extended the time in the manner they insinuate?

It doesn't have a time purchased, but it does have a serial number, expiry time and a fee paid, so it doesn't take a genius (or a parking inspector) to work out when they were purchased !

If you write them a nice letter and photocopy the tickets and explain etc.. they should be perfectly fine and cancel the ticket.
Hassle I know but they are fairly reasonable normally..
A mates mum used to buy a ticket and forget to display it everytime she parked and kept having to write to them etc..
Not Brighton and hove councdil but a different one but they should be okay...
Good luck

Write in and tell them what happened. Parking attendants aren't exactly rocket scientists (otherwise they'd be sending parking meters into space.
Keep copies of everything (tickets your correspondence) and send the originals registered post. Those lovely council type places have a tendency to misplace bits of mail from time to time.
Sorry it put a bit of a dampener on your weekend.

Know how you feel.....get this
Had to drop off some stuff just off Purley Way and only place to stop was a bus stop(not legal I know) but this was early sun morning and it was one of those really long ones that can take 4 plus buses. There were 2 other cars parked there so I stuck mine between the two and was gone for no more than 4 mins.Come out to find traffic warden just getting into her car after giving me a ticket. Now I know I was parked ilegally, but what got me annoyed was she had completely ignored the two other cars and just gave the shiny scoob a ticket(£60)
Even went and checked the timetable and there wasn't any bus due in the next 35 minutes
Sorry, rant mode off.....hope you get yours cancelled

Thought that once you had bought your original ticket, thats it.... You have to move to another area after it expires ,not just the next parking space and get another ticket.

I live in Brighton.
Parking was okay untill they privatised it a year ago or so.
The privatised traffic wardens in Brigton & Hove are biggest bunch of F***ING T*SSERS you will meet in any town in the country.
They have given so many local people unfair tickets that they now usually have to walk about in groups of two or three. We saw one a few weeks ago giving someone with a residents parking permit a ticket for have the edge of their car hanging over a double yellow.
Needless to say we hung out of our flat window and ripped the **** out of him.
If you complain to Brigton & Hove council, you have to fill in a complaints form. Every time I have done this I have never heard anything again, probably because they have so many complaints to deal with. This may well work.
Hope this helps

Southend where I reside has recently privatised Traffic Wardens, their collar numbers started with SS (had to laugh) now removed due to complaints, latest trick tickets on cars, whose owners have displayed tickets by leaving them on the dash, in full view, there arguement is that the tickets should have been stuck on the windscreen and those that aren,t are deemed to not have displayed correctly and therefore even if the warden sees the ticket on the dash, he can slap a ticket on. And they wonder why so many of them are being threatened
