How often do you change the oil?

I have had my oil+filter changed every 3000 miles using oil from my subaru dealer (BEECHDALE DERBY) Fina oil.10W/40 .
Motul oil is a very good oil to use.
There is lots of threads on this subject so try search if you can get in the door.

Every 3250 miles is recomended by those who know that the liquid is the life blood of any engine!
Semi Synthetic is fine if you are replacing it every 3250 miles or so too .............. dont waste your money on Fully Sythetic as you should never go backwards - only forwards (this means once Fully is used then Fully should ALWAYS be used)

Stiscooby,
Have a read of these 3 threads. One hour needed. They talk about engine failure and then go on to talk about which oil, how often and how it should be done. Alot of the techies have posted in these threads. The threads are very informative.

To cut a long story short, like SCOOBERATORS does, change it every 3k. The oils that came out best for the scoob from those threads were, Motul 300V 15W/50, Castrol RS 10W/60, Mobil 1 15W/50, all fully synthetic. 0W based oils should be avoided cos they are considered too thin for scooby engines.
The genuine Subaru oil filter should be used and it should be filled up with oil before fitting. Also some oil should be placed on the lip of the filter with your finger prior to fitting.
Cheers,
Wrexy.
