Buying a classic
Hi guys, new member
Im possibly buying my first scooby this weekend, its a classic shape 1996 WRX V Limited 60k on the clock and a full history,
just after some info on anything out of the ordinary I should be looking for on this, except the obvious stuff id look for on any 12 year old car
also, I drive a 200BHP mk4 golf now, im expecting a world of difference from that to the WRX (its 301BHP) am I expecting too much or am I going to be as blown away as I hope?
Thanks
Ian

go for it mate!
listen to the engine cold and hot for knocking, check the gears all go in smooth and make sure the owner hasnt fitted any silly bleed valves or super chips (unless its a genuine scoobyecu).
ask when the cam belt was changed and ask him if he has been using super unleaded in it (which it needs).
i wouldnt pay any more than 3.5k for a nice one. lots about for that price.

Its got a proper Scott t scooby ECU in it mapped at 1 bar, ive heard thats the one you want in a classic??
he says hes only usd V power and hes an older guy who bought it as a hobby so I dont think its been wellied all the time either 60k on a 12 yer old car is amazing!
Im not paying for it, he wants a straight swap for my golf coz its cheaper to run and my golfs worth 3.5 tops, maybe 4 in the summer but not the way the markets are now.
