Thanks to Mr Webmaster for getting us involvded in this, for any rally fan it was a dream come true.
Nice to meet a few new faces and a few not so new.
salsa-king did a roaring trade in stickers.
For those that couldn't make it our cars were kitted out wth the latest GPS tracking system with the WRC crew emergency console system. We had to check in and out of time controls, service areas etc. and a total of eight "Special stages". We even had the full WRC red light count down to the start of the stages.
Thanks also to ISC who made us feel most welcome, free lunch was provided as well as a years subscription to RallyXS mag.
We also were given an insight into what is coming in the future but if I told you I'd have to kill you. . LOL
Turned out to be a great day with a good insight into the world of the WRC. Unfortunatly photos were not allowed.
Cheers

Cheers Huxley, still got a few feathers stuck in the front grille -driving through the feathers was a bit like driving through flack!
Thanks to John for putting up with Rachael as a co-driver for the morning! Ohh, and you naughty boy, jump-starting a stage - having a Skoda isn't an excuse!!
Big thanks to Simon for giving us the opportunity, and ISC for allowing us to test this hi-tech equipment, which we will all be looking at in the coming months!
Great fun, would love to go back and try to set a competitive time!!

Hi All
I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came along. Nobody "didn't turn up", and everyone was fantastic.
We got some fabulous results and enough data to keep us going for quite a while. I'm really proud that we could be part of it all.
Thanks again, all the best
Simon
PS. I think there was some confusion about this so just to confirm... there is no relationship or partnership between scoobynet and ISC, only that I am personally working on the project.

Thanks for the day out Mr Web man, it was great to be part of the whole thing and feel we contributed to the sport. I think we need a collection for Richard Askews new clutch though - it got thoroughly toasted!

wicked day!!!!
Lee was the '000' test car! first to get to ever Rally stage, 1st in the PITS etc etc...hence we were the car that everyone said at the Special stages.....'how do you do this, wots that hmmmmm, i think i'll put the time down there!!' lol being the fist car to get to everyone!
just goes to show that one of the 'top' blokes (Malcolm, he sort of designed the equipment), only wanted to be driven round the special rally stages in COMFORT so he chose Logiclee's 2.5 v6 Mondeo (FULL LEATHER heated seats) smooth ride with traction control!!!! which we really needed, though Lee got over enthusisatic on the 1st timing point off the LAST set of Special stages!! he wheel spun like he was at Monte Carlo! Malcolm nearly had to change his pants! lol
pressing that Emergency button was fun, shame i forgot to turn it off after a STAGE!! and CONTROL thought we were in DIFFICULTY..nearly sent out a Medic Team to us!! lol
i cant say how much fun i had, Thank everyone at ISC (Claire perticularly ) lol / and the use of Prodrive's hospitality. How good was it to see a REAL rally car in the flesh was it the '00 car?
TNX Si too
hope you have the sticker in your car now!

Taction control needed?
Richard burnt out his clutch?
I thought there was a 30mph speed limit LOL.
There also seemed to be more rubber on the chicane with every lap. Good job the guys in the control tower couldn't see due to the fog.
Good to hear that all the data collected was worth the trials even if a few of the GPS dots on the screen were doing a little over 30mph at times.
Lee
PS. We averaged around 20mph due to Malcom wanting us to set slower times.

Cheers Simon - great day
and thanks to my driver Jon for not scaring me once all day
From a competitors viewpoint it's always interesting to see how these systems are set up.

Thanks Simon, was fun indeed, and the buffet was excellent!
Nice to see some familiar faces as well as new ones.
The flashing button created a number of problems, but at least byt the last test, we knew what we were doing. Some pessimists would say that by that time it was too late.
Great day and a nice early start for a Saturday!
Thanks again
Clare

Great to do something just a little different and to know I did something useful for a change.
Had to take it easy of course, as we were following that lardy old Skyline
A bit concerned when we were queued within the stage due to the emergency recovery exercise. Saw Jons headlights bouncing through the chicane and hoped he would spot me in time!
Made sure we were well onto the grass for our "tyre change", a bit silly really as he was only doing 30mph

I enjoyed myself, even though the comical 30mph speed limit was a bit of a let down. Cheers for the feeding and free subscriptionage an all that. Like it has been said before, its always good to see how the technical side of these things work and the fact we had buttons to press, together with the authentic WRC starting lights made the trip worthwhile. That and the Broadside on the exit out of the front gates
Big up to Huxley for the Flyby on the motorway on the way home as well.
Cheers for the stickers Salsa.
and a big pat on the back to SDB for setting it all up.
astraboy.
P.S. I'd also like to apologise unreservedly for my mate Ben. When people meet him they say theve been "Benned". Consider yourself benned

Thanks to Simon & ISC for a very interesting day and their appreciation of our help.
Nice to put some faces to Scoobynet names.
Had a good day assisting with the Start & Finish time controls, seemed just as easy to use as the existing traffic light system we have used before. Unfortunately with so few stages on the Network Q now, I don't think we'll get a chance to use it for real.

My I add a quick accolade for the marshals, it was OK for SDB luxuriating in Rally HQ. They were out in the fog getting frozen, last to the buffet and after a quick tomato soup first out into the cold again.
Along with they weather they really conveyed the atmosphere of a Welsh forest in November. Especially the guys on the start of SS 1, who ensured we were inch perfect at the beam, gave us a manual countdown and waved us away. The only thing missing was a chequer flag
Well worth the journey down. If we promise to be good can we have longer stages next time Si?

Certainly was a good day out! Interesting to see what's in the pipeline for WRC and its fans. Should be a great second half to the season for those who cannot actually get to the rallying, but follow it online.
Nice to see familiar faces and meet some new ones.
Rich, I think your Mum is in love .......................................... with my car! LOL

Many thanks for a cracking day out...
Shame it was a "low speed" trial but we knew that before we signed up As for the rumours of me trying to demolish my clutch............they're all TRUE!! Despite 8 stages and me trying different start techniques on each one, including 6500rpm and rev limiter sidesteps, it never blew aint even slipping, although I must apologise to Ian Cook and Clare for filling their car with an accrid stench after every take off...
Thanks to my gorgeous co-driver, Mel for sitting by me and to MattOz for allowing mother to co-drive him....all shes blithering on about now is Skylines, methinks she's forgotten about a P1 and fancies an R34
It was fantastic to see so many peeps out enjoying themselves on what was a pretty miserable day and thanks to the marshalls for standing out in it...
Can I ask those who went to say what car they were in so I can put names to faces and motors and the same goes for those who chatted to me....I dunno who you all were
I'll start: I was the ugly git in the white wagon

Richard,
I'll start then.
Dark Blue Mondeo V6 with "000" car designation.
Driver - logiclee
co-driver - salsa-king.
Also had logiclee and salsa-king stickers in rear windows and spent most of the day with the boot open from which salsa was selling stickers. LOL.
