Default Advice on max boost

Hi guys,

I own a 2002 wrx sti uk prodrive, i have a boost gauge and it maxed out at approx 16psi, i have just fitted an adjustable boost valveset to the first click,
i took it for a run and boy did it make a difference on just one click, but it did max to about 20+ psi.

so my question is what is the safest max psi i can run.
is my car fitted with boost cut out if it overboost.

i have turned the boost valve off for now until i have an answer.

thanks

shaun....

You really shouldn't go to 20+ psi without the fuelling and ignition maps adjusted to suit. Put the thing up on ebay and get yourself an uprated fuel pump and a proper re-map. There's more to getting safe power than simply turning up the boost!
