Can scratches in door glass be removed?
I recently bought a Classic 99T and all the 4 door windows have scratches running from top to bottom in the centre of them, it looks like grit must have got in the seal at the top of the doors into the runners, is this common?? If so has anyone any ideas if i can get rid of the scratches with polish etc, what to buy to do it? or if there are any companies that might do it?
Cheers

yes,its common, its a part that is like foam that as you say, gets crud caught in it, its about 1" long and makes a nice 1" groove down the glass, very annoying !
ive used a form of rubin compound to remove some of the scratches, carefully mind.
apart from that,if they are deep enough, they are there to stay

yeah, remove the door card and you`ll see the offending part, its this part as well that you can move forward/backwards if the door glass has alot of movement in it,but the moreyou move it forward to stop the glass going side to side, the more chance of the glass getting more scratched,so its a stuck in the middle problem.

I removed scratches from a windscreen a few years ago, I used a polishing compound which I think was jewellers rouge, got it off the local window fitting firm, they let me have it FOC.

Somebody once told me they got rid of light scratches on glass by using toothpaste as a rubbing compound.
No its not a wind up i promise you he reckons its slightly abrasive surely worth a try it wont cost you anything.

The correct stuff to use for scratches in glass is Jewellers Rouge.
How successful you are will depend on the depth of the scratches and how persistent you are in using the Rouge correctly.
Here's one link:
QUICKTEST Rouge, scratch removers, Polishes, Oils
I expect you can find others too.
