Big power classic not running right - urgent help!
Afternoon,
My classic has recently started playing up, and I'm not sure if there is anyone out there who could offer any advice! The car is supposed to be attending a private testing session tomorrow but as it stands I can't get it to run properly.
The problem - the car starts and runs but very rough, the engine warning light remains on and although the car idles, it sounds as though it's on 3 cylinders - reluctant to rev and lots of smoke out the back.
It was doing this previously, and a change to a new set of plugs cured the problem - but now, despite new plugs, they go in clean and come out blacker than black, and very wet!
Fuel-system wise, it's running 740cc injectors, a swirl pot and Bosch 044, and the plugs are NGK PFR7B platinums.
Have I done something simple wrong? Has anyone else experienced this? The car starts on the key, but won't rev freely and engine warning light remains on. All cylinders have been checked for compression and came back at 160, it was running properly last week when I put the plugs in but now it's back to old tricks again.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Cheers,
Rich

It's on HKS V-Con, MAF-less, does that help?
I'll check for pipe leaks, could I have knocked a sensor? It seems bizarre that new plugs fixed the problem, only for it to be playing up again.
