Angry Nice One Ben !!!

I am wounded, I decided not to wash the car today as the weather was quite bad so I thought I would use the father-in-law's pressure washer to give it a quick rinse over.

Went over the drivers side rear door and noticed this

Pics not very good as they were taken in the dark but I seem to have taken the laquer off the door !!

I noticed a little mark on the door when I sprayed it and then after it looked like that

The mark must have already split the laquer on the door enough for the water to get in.

Anyone seen this before? I found bits of it on the window, it was like a thin film.

Will I need the door respraying or can I get it sorted another way?

I am so mad at myself and at the same time gutted, still got my rear bumper to fix

Ben

Yep respray only, probably had a poor quality paint job at some point hence the low stickyness of the laqure

As a temp Bodge flake off any loose laqure round the edges of it with your finger nail then get a harryhalfrauds can of laqure and give it a light coat over the damaged area, will make it look quite a lot better

PMSL you got any idea how many Variants there are on most scooby colours? chances of finding one thats the same variant and has faded the same amount 0

A good bodyshop will blend the paint down the front door and rear 1/4 so you wont see the difference at all! a **** one wont

I had a new door fitted and sprayed the other side last year and that matched perfectly

Will the Halfruads laquer really work as an intermediate solution?

Cheers for the replys fellas, and yeah I am gutted, it made me feel sick. I normally spend a good 4 hours cleaning the car most weeks and then I go and do something stupid like this

That's why i've never used one on my car, i'm always worried i'd do that after seeing what it does to the patio slabs
Good luck getting it sorted.

i managed to find a second hand door in the right colour, it was a rare, old colour too, 262 silver. now fitted you cant tell the diference. paint doesnt age that much, only reds seem to fade bad.

Take it to a bodyshop, they may well be able to clean up the edges of the peeled lacquer and re-lacquer the entire door without needing a colour coat.. Personally I'd give it a go myself but if you're in anyway not confident in trying take it to a decent bodyshop.
