actually been wondering about this as i have recently had a 2.5 fitted and have wondering if you get a reduction in economy.
thing is, its a bigger engine, but makes lower down power easier? so you need less revs to shift the car about ?

Also with the 2.5 sti is the power shove when the turbo comes in similar to that of the 2.0...not sure what was meant by better internals

Mikkel just had a look at your spec D....beautiful car you got there and the styling is spot on, couple of questions:
1) Where did you get the A line spoiler from?
2) Are the blob eye rear lights a direct replacement for the hawkeye rear items...i don't like the lexus style lights on the hawkeye they look like a halfords job lol
Great car, bet is kicks *** on the road!!

The spoiler is an OEM part that you buy direct from the dealer. £150 with brake light for rear window.
They are a direct replacement. Note: I don't have them yet. Buying them from a chap on here and should have them fitted on the car by next month. Will update photos as have had rear windows subtley tinted too since the summer.
The car is a great all rounder. As a performance car, not much will stay with it between 0 and 70mph and the handling is go kart like even before I've done the ARB and drop links.

I have driven a JDM car yes. They are cracking cars but not noticeably different from a 2.5ltr UK model if you ignore the rear windscreen wiper

Explain why the engine is far stronger without the stock quote of stronger internals. Also how do you know they can run more power safely?

Come and drive my car, I don't think you'll want yours afterwards.

so back to my original question, it seems as though mpg values on the 2.5 are better or similar to that of the 2.0....i suppose driving a 6speed sti on a long motorway run would be more economical than a 5spd wrx?...i imagined the 2.5 bigger engine to be more thirsty.

a lot less when having fun, so the 5 seed is not bad, and makes a great mile muncher.
how many people with over 350 BHP use thire car 10 to 12000 miles a year?
it seem a lot of cars are parked most of the time.

2.5s used elsewhere in the world as we have different emmissions levels, etc.

my 06 WRX will do over 400 miles to a tank (60L) on a long run. and thats not driving slow.

I don't think I've ever had 400 miles out of a tank on anything that wasn't a TDi... mine (06STi lightly mod'd) gets ~220-250 normally before I fill up again. It's not really any different since the mods were done either.
Mine does ~10k (+/- a couple of K) as well...

As with the old saga of UK/JDM/2.0ltr/2.5ltr
I would prefer a UK 2.5 thana UK 2.0ltr but happier to stick with my 2.0ltr JDM
IMHO
