Picked up my WRX today - came in from Belgium. I've driven it for approx 1.5 hours and once home checked under the bonnet. There is a light green film on many of the components - should I be worried about this or is it just some protective substance ?

I would be grateful if somebody could put my mind at rest.

You're a luckly lad, Fazack - I've got to wait another couple of weeks for mine! Are you going to register it as an 02?

That stuff was on my MY99 when I picked it up 3 years ago. Its sticky so picks up all the sh%t.

Looks absolutely dreadful now, and can't be steam cleaned due to the alarm box

Enjoy the car anyway

Cool

& Yorkie (Dwight? )

Get hold of some wheel cleaner from Wizard of Wax as it doubles as a degreasant for your engine bay as well. Warm engine, spray on & hose off

Nice one Fazack - what colour did you choose? Out of interest, how did you get it back from Belgium, or was it imported for you by an agent? Reason I'm asking is that I've got to nip over myself to collect mine.

Harry,
It's a Blue Black Mica 5-door. Sourced it via Keyring Cars. I did plan to go and get it myself, just for the crack, but in the end decided it was cheaper and less risky to get it transported over. Used a company called CCS and collected it from their Chester depot. Not very impressed with their service, agreed to pick it up first thing Tuesday, but it was not ready. Anyway, got it now and the car is everything I thought it would be.

Exclamation

Guys, its there for a reason.

Take it off and the outer surface of the alloy will corode.

If you do clean it off, make sure you put something else on in its place.
