Question my brake pads are knocking in the calipers

Hi there, Got some Godspeed 4 pots and around 6 months ago some ds2500 pads to replace the old mintex. This may sound a bit daft but the car has done around 1000 miles since fitting the pads and I seem to be getting a knocking noise from the front calipers when ever i brake at speed, going slow or even in reverse. Is this normal ?? and most of all is it safe??

Any Ideas?

Me too, just got some new 4 pots.

When I reverse & brake it makes a clanking sound.

It's booked in tomorrow, I'll let you know.

May not apply to you, but when I put the 308mm Godspeed kit on my MY00 with the Subaru 16" 6 spokes the calipers had to have several mm removed from the shoulders to get the wheels on and there is now only 2mm or so clearance. After fitting I suffered the same problem with both calipers shortly afterwards; the 2 Allen bolts holding the caliper/adaptor plate to the car would come loose allowing the caliper to judder and then contact with the wheel. In the car I could hear a knocking noise. To solve this I have had to use green (very high strength) Loctite threadlock as opposed to the standard blue stuff used previously. I torqued the bolts to 125NM.

Snap the bolts kept coming loose and had to use better lock thread to hold them on! If at worst case just nut and bolt!

cheers for the replys guys will have a look at these bolts but I am pretty sure the calipers and brackets were not removed at all and were not knocking at all with the mintex pads. Could it be the ds2500 pads are smaller slightly??

Had new Disc's fitted to match the 4 pot WRX I had fitted about a month or 2 ago.

There is now a slight noise when I reverse & brake.

Much better than before.

Garage are not worried about it.
