well when i took the flywheel off you could see marks witch showed it had slight high spots so our technician in work (very highly cualified mercedes benz tech handy handy ) offered to giv it a skim on the lathe, he then said heed lightened a load of flywheels by removing small amounts of material from the rear of the flywheelm, so i was just going to weigh it tonight to see how much hes managed to lighten it by, he said he could lighten it more but then id be runing it near its limit,so thought better not

If you are taking weight off the OE flywheel it should be properly balanced also.
Have seen some quite shoddy ones. Take too much off a OE flywheel and they become weak/brittle.
Most people take them down to around 8kgs as this is about as much as the OE material will allow.
