Default Anyone know of a MAF solution on 99/00

Re - MY99/2000

Apart from the MAFless remap is there a way to sort this problem out

Was out the other day and i'm sure there was a change in boost
been out today and still is nippy but i'm sure it was madder last week
changed the MAF to one I bought off here and the engine light came on so THANKS FOR THAT
no need to buy these 2nd hand other than to identify the fault

I will be buying a new MAF but is there a solution other than continually buying sensors

If MAFless remap is the way, how much

no such thing as a maf less remap on a standard ecu your looking at an after market ecu e.g simtec, gems, motec etc etc to go mafless
ring api and speak to David it sounds like something else other than the sensor

My car is 8yrs old, and i've only replaced the maf opnce, and i'm using an induction kit aswell...... some filters cause maf's to fail, but if they are continually going, somthing is amiss.....

Cheers for replies

Did mean the simtec job as the Mafless option

whats happend is I bought the car from a dealer with the fault a few week ago (not subaru dealer)

I phoned the previous owner who had owned it from new and he said it never had a problem when he took it in and wasn't aware of one before, the car was totally standard baring front light protectors and a boot mat
I bought a 2nd hand MAF after getting the info on here (bought 2 actually!) and it did the trick, no tickover or boost probs
Now after the other day i'm thinking this MAF may have just been cleaned and sold and now it may be on its way out so I will buy a new one

I don't know if it will continue to be a problem as i've only had it a few weeks but seen a lot of threads lately on 99/00 MAF wanted and for sale hence my post

RON - what induction kit are you using and does it make a racket (must be getting old!)

I did nearly buy one off here but decided against it after reading of MAF issues

I'm lead to believe you can somehow fit a MAF from a later version to solve this problem.. Sorry i don't have any more details..

The Kand N i have is the 57i induction kit, it replaces the original filter housing...... i did find when i first got it that it sucked a lot more, but i've got used to it now....

I also used to run it with simply a K and N flat panel filter, didn;t have any issues there either.....
