Unhappy

after a January of £££££££££££ being sent on my car....
new Clutch, springs+dampers, STi5 spoiler and braided hoses.

yesterday i find the Radiator is now leaking!!!!
i can see where a stone has hit the front bumper and sent a stone into the Rad!!! coolent leaking everywhere when the engines running!!

the only luck on myside is i can claim on my Insurance to get THIS expence sorted!

still an unhappy bunny as i'm now with out a car for the next week!

i think this is the end of my spate of bad luck with the car!
this is the 3rd!!! bit of bad luck i've had now...so i shouild be ok for a while!

Phil,
Couldn't believe it when I got your text.

David,
£600 + for the radiator. Phil has protected no claims and insurance through his Dad's company.

Question

phil, try ringing northern radiators, leeds road, huddersfield, they can fix a radiator and use something to coat the inside so it'll never corode (reseal, renew or something), must be cheaper than a replacement

wot.cheaper than the £50 Xs i'll have to pay.

Beechdale are only 10mins away from me, so they are handy.

if i'd had to pay to get it fixed i would have gone for a repair or something, as the insurance will foot the bill, i'll go for a new one!

TNX for recomending someone though

I know it is too late and still more expensive than 50pounds but you can get any rad repairs/renewed by a radiator place for about 100pounds.. they cut each side off and replace all the fins in the middle... as a good a new and warrentteed etc...
done in many times... not on a Scooby yet though...

How come you can claim on the insurance in the first place???

I had a gearbox go on a rover and tried the insurance co. who said flatly "sorry, you can't do that sort of thing".

Is this on the previso of it having been in an accident...???

Question

Phil

About the insurance thing, are you sure £50 is all you will pay? The way I see it (and have been explained to) is that your 70% NCB will be intact but come renewal time your discount will be 70% off the figure given for someone who has claimed (at least) once last year, compared with 70% off the figure for someone who has never claimed.

In other words your NCB is the same but the start figure has risen because you made a claim.

I'm not sure about this, does anyone care to comment?

Hope your luck changes..

Justin

its no differant than the stone hitting your windscreen or a head light lense or dentin your bonnet!! you can claim!!! rang them and its an accepable claim!

Jay
not sure, but last (FEB) year when i had a claim when a Toss Pott RAN! into the path of the car (13yr old boy) car got fixed, i paid the £50 Xs, when the remewal date came up (july) the premium was still the same!
i know wot your saying! but i think we can have 3 claims a year with out loosing the 'Protected' on the 70% NCD.

the cars gone into day! should have it back friday.

Hey Salsa King

bummer, but if you could show that you could stick one of your stickers over the rad hole and it prove an effetive repair, you might be onto a real winner.. Jen (I am having such a bad day I am trying to look on the bright side of everything).

Phil,
Did you mention to Beechdale that u r a SIDC member? They do 10% discount on parts if you do, BUT you have to tell them before the bill goes through.

PURPLE NEONS?!? This I must see...
