Hello all... new member here,
Was hoping for a bit of expert advice please.
I've been following the value of impreza's over the last year and have seen WRX's fall 5 grand over the last 18 months. Figure this is the time to buy and bag myself a performance bargain.
I'm looking to spend around 8K which at the moment can get me a 05 plate WRX (low miles, FSH etc).

I was looking for some owner reviews for this model and a bit of general advice. I stay in the Highlands of Scotland, and trying to get a test drive in one up here is a headache. I would really apprieciate your views.
The car needs to be able to carry out day to day family duties as well as B road blasts on the weekend. Do you reckon I'm looking at the right machine?

For family duties a superb compromise, with a few mods, (you know you will !) they are great little cars. STi is harsher, stiffer, thirstier, and quicker, but too far for some to justify.

What he said, Crispy, I ran one for 3yrs and loved every minute. Mine was a '54 and only the 225bhp version which was still quick, but try and get a Prodrive one as has similar power to a standard STi, but much its easier to live with.

Nice machine mate, something like that just what I'm after. Does the PPP upgrade afffect the insurance and running costs greatly?

You'll have to shop around for a good insurance quote with PPP as some of the big names will hammer you, but the specialists will not sting you.

Running costs are the same (except you might use more fuel coz you'll want to boot it more to listen to the exhaust!)
