Adjusting Idle, How to?
Hi,
What revs should my idle be sitting at?
I have a 96 JDM WRX and its idle is sitting at 7000/7500 revs when warm. I was under the impression it should be sitting near 9000/9500?
If it should be around 9000 revs, how do i go about adjusting it?
Thanks

If it was sat at 7500 it would be exploding. I think you mean 750 and as far as i'm aware that's fine.
ECU should sort all idle issues for you. If the car isn't running right have a diagnostic done, if you've modded consider a map otherwise i wouldn't worry.

I think he is laughing because I think you mean 700 ~ 900 no 7000 ~ 9000 etc..
if you look on the inlet manifold to the right in front of the intercooler you will see the idle valve.. grey plug on the top with two small screws one each side.. you loosen them slightly and rotate clockwise to increase the idle..
however if the idle is smooth and it doesn't stall then no need to adjust imho
may have a picture of it
it is on the left in this pic with a green sticker on the back, not the best pics as this is my modified manifold but hopefully you get the idea

Many thanks for that JGM
Well she idle's fine and doesnt stall so as you say, prob not worth worrying about. Its also smooth too. I just found it strange running at an idle so lowas previous cars ive owned idled around 950* RPM
I hear your the man for Mapping. How far away are you from Lancaster?
Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated indeed.
* see, got it right that time
