Red manifold if paint hasn't flaked off, v2's should also have IC spray, STi badges on the front wings, STi black and grey seats with red stitching also for starters mate. Hope that helps

didnt think the ra nor the stis had lighter doors?
most pre 96 imports have alloy bonnet.
best way to tell an pre 96 sti is the plate by the front suspention turrent. it will have the number e.g 101/200

Lighter panels is a myth. It will have an aluminium bonnet, along with all other JDM Saloons.

If its a V2 then it will be a 1996 model year car. The only way to be sure is to check the applied model number: 48D = WRX, 47D = WRX Type-RA, 4ED = WRX STI and 4DD = WRX STI Type-RA.

In 1995 Subaru retro converted white only WRX Type-RAs into STI Type-RAs. These have a standard '47D' applied model number, but theyre easily identified by the roof vent and the DCCD.

STi's came with IC water spray OR ABS, if there is no IC spray it might still be an STi.

Check for the silver slanty top mount instead of the usual black one.
Should have the usual carbon strut brace.
Electric FOLDING mirrors, WRX's were only electric movement

I was under the impression that the v2, both sti and type ra wrx had water spray.....

No ABS though.... due to having the DCCD......

Also red manifold.....

so check for DCCD, red manifold and water spray....

Id suggest only looking at the applied model numbers.

This whole thread is full of (probably well-meant) mistakes and rubbish advice: thats why its better to look at the applied model number and know for certain what youre buying.

Please listen to simon, and you'll not waste your time on speculation. Model numbers are applied for the above reasons.

Clint, I'd consider Simon's (GC8's) posts as a good place to start
