Hi Everyone!
Hi guys!
I have been browsing the forums now for over a year, without registering, so thought today would be the time to take the plunge!
The wife and I are currently in the search for my ("our" ) first Scoob!! Can anyone recommend a reliable garage/dealer? We are after a UK Spec car as insurance seems to be a little pricey on the imports although I would love a V5 STI
Also with insurance are there any recommended companies?? We have had a quote for a 02 WRX that is 980 FC that is with my partner (25, female, 5Yr NCB and no accidents or convictions) and myself as named driver (24, male, no convictions or accidents) Does that seem like a reasonable price or should it be better? I would really like a Classic Turbo 2000 but insurance appears to be more!!!...?
Cant wait to finally hear that flat four rumble...............

That quote doesn't seem too bad for your ages. Phone Keith Michaels Insurance but you must speak to Gary Moulson.
Make sure you get a test drive of both the WRX and a Classic as you may find the WRX sluggish as they carry more weight than a Classic with around the same power. Just remember it's a buyers market out there with loads and loads of Scoobs for sale

Hi and welcome. As Brun said, you must speak to Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels (0845 337 3380). Good prices and, having had to make a claim recently, good service.
I've had the same classic for seven years and love it to bits, but any new age model will be more civilised, a bit heavier and therefore slightly less sharp but quite a bit more comfy. Finding a tidy classic might take time, but there's loads around.
TSL were always excellent in my experience, they're just outside Nottingham and specialise in Scoobs. Decent servicing isn't cheap (except in Newbury).
Bear in mind that if you buy a standard car and get the modifying bug, it can be costly in the long term.....But don't let cost put you off, you know you want that shiny part.....

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
Will definitely be test driving a Classic as in my opinion they are the best looking scoob! Would like one in white, but a Turbo 2000 in white appears to be quite rare.... TSL looks perfect as Notts is only about an hour from me.
Do you need previous performance car experience with Keith Michaels? I remember reading a post about one of the companies like you to have experience in owning a high performance car.... Closest I have got is a Nova Sport and a Corsa GSi....
I am sure the modifying bug will get me as I already plan a Ninja R 3" system as the first mod and I haven't even found the car yet!!!

Good point, did they do uk's in white?
If a Classic is what you want, try and aim for an MY99 onwards as they had the phase 2 engine, 4 pot brakes and the updated front end. MY99 came in at late S plate. I do miss my Scoob

I have also been considering a classic wagon... Is there much performance difference? They seem to be cheaper than the saloons...

Looks like the classic on there is a WRX Import (The black one) so bit too pricey on the insurance with being quite young....
Thanks for the link anyhows.... didn't even know that club existed!
The search continues...... Seems hard to find a UK Spec classic nowadays!!
