Hi tiggers,
I have heard of this problem, its quite common actually you have 2 choices, manually lock the car or use your body as a conductor (should work)
But transmitters do interfere with remotes

From: Lots of different places! (Thank you Mr. Lambert)
Question

UK MY00.

When I park up in certain places I find that the alarm does not function correctly. It first happened a few weeks ago. I stopped to go to the cash point, got out of the car and pressed the button on the remote to lock it. It wouldn't lock. Then when I got back in it wouldn't take the immobiliser off so I couldn't start it. I rang my wife thinking it was the batteries in the remote and she fetched me the spare remote. Still no joy. I called Subaru assistance, but before they could turn up it started working again.

Weird thought I. It was fine for a few days and then happened again in a different location. This time I waved the remote all round near the front of the car and found that it would work if it was held just above the drivers side window wiper (I was trying to remember where I was stood when it worked again at the first location).

This has happened twice more since once in a different location and once in the original location. Both times I have had to get out of the car and hold the remote over the wiper to get it to work (you get some strange looks).

Being the inquisitive type I decided to work out the common factor for the three locations and hence drove to them today. I found it pretty quickly in daylight. They are all next to police transmitters for police radio comms. Has anyone else heard of this or experienced a similar problem as Subaru say they have not come across this. My wife's MY99 by the way is unaffected in all three locations despite having the same alarm/immobiliser system.

Regards,

tiggers

Thumbs up

To use your body best as a conductor touch the remote to your chin. Hold your left arm up in the air too.

Scotty.

PS: Just kidding about the left arm Hitler bit.
