The STI seats. Theyre poverty spec (which is to be expected as they wouldnt build GpN cars out of base cars with suede Recaros) they appear to be identical to the normal WRX seats other than the embroidery, they have embedded airbags which cant practically be removed and worst of all: they arent very sporty. My friend has a set (from Grade-A) and whilst theyre new and smart and clean, they are far less grippy than the old school WRX seats that they replaced.

As suggested above: theyre tall and theyre less than ideal if youre tall, which I am. That said: the fellow who bought them likes them and he says that theyre more comfortable.

So are these (the ones in the OP) the same as the standard UK STI seats but without the leather? Or are they different again?

They appear to be exactly the same as '08 WRX seats, with 'STI' embroidered on. A few days after they were fitted we attended the McRea Gathering and saw several '08 STIs, which all had higher spec seats, along with a couple of '08 WRXs, whose seats appeared to be identical.

They do look the same as the06 STi seats- albeit a different colour- which imho are rubbish.

I sat in a UK STI in the dealers recently and it had 'standard seats' which were half leather but looked similar otherwise to those in the OP. The delaer said that you can upgrade to Recaros in the new STI which he said were much better seats. I didn't think the standard seats were awful, but not too special either.

So are these in the OP actually 'worse' than the standard UK STI seats?

Chris, these arent half leather; theyre exactly the same as new WRX seats, with added embroidery. Youre going to have to trust me; having been to Grade-A, compared them with New Age seats, taken a set away with a friend, driven on them to the McRea Gathering and then looked at several 08 WRX and STI seats whilst I was there.....

With regards to their being better ot worse, I cant say, because I dont know what 'standard' UK 08 STI seats are like. They certainly werent as smart as the alcantara Recaros Id seen in brochures. Consider though, that Prodrive imported these cars with the intention of stripping the trim and other superfluous parts, so theyll be base.
