smelly, HOT, exhaust
ok so,.......ive just fitted my new h&s 4.5' jap back box to my h&s system and my god is it loud!!! sounds like i have anti-lag cos its popping so much and so loud BUT, what im concerned about is that after i left the car running for 20mins or so i went to rub some dust ( yes, dust ) from the top of the rear box, and i have actually scallded my hand, it was so hot. i mean i know exhausts get hot, but should it be this hot? also, it smells. not like when a cat has gone but its like a very hot smell, if you know what i mean.
could all of this be due to the fact that it has a decat and straight through centre section?
comments please folks.

Smell goes away after a few long runs.
By the way when you say a H&S system what have you got?, sounds good if your getting it to pop.
I just had fitted a cat pipe to replace the 2nd cat on my STI impreza, so currently it has that plus centresection ad back box all from H&S. so far it has pop loudly once, but not on demand. Guessing I need to get shot of the first cat totally, and have a high flow instead?.
By the way when you say a H&S system what have you got?, sounds good if your getting it to pop.

hello matey, right thankyou for what you said. i have got a decat second cat, straight through centre and jap angle back box. all h&s. beleive me its popping all the time. loudly too. to be honest ive heard many blitz and vortex and i have to say mine is far louder. the rumble is really roar and as i said its popping all the time. i absolutely love it.

Since having the 2nd cat pipe done, mine has changed sound, also to become a more powerful roar lol, but no more pops as before, i.e. sod all.
I still have the standard dump valve on, if your using an after market one like a Bailey/HKS, do they not allow a little more fuel in the system, thus allows the exhaust to turn it into pops?

I do fancy a HKS SSQV, but at the risk of opening that can of worms all over again i'll shut up
