Default Opinions on Exhausts

I have a H & S scoobysport backbox. The problem is I don't think it's loud enough compared with almost every other scooby I hear. The rest of the system has been decatted and sport cat etc... Would changing to say a H & S Jap Style 5 inch backbox do the job?

Blitz Nur Spec S is the daddy of Back Boxes. It's not too loud and has a much deeper more convincing note than the H&S equivalent due to the enlarged 3" pipework. Connects to the existing 2.5" system and build quality is awesome. I had H&S/Vortex on my last scoob (53WRX) and it doesn't compare tbh.

I had a H&S turbo back de-cat system on my Classic with the scooby sport style backbox. It was plenty loud enough, and boy did I enjoy driving it around with the windows down through tunnels, under bridges, underpasses, etc.

I've just swapped my back box from a Ninja 2 to a H&S Scoobysport backbox, all mated to a full decat, and it's still pretty loud.
Maybe I'm just getting old.

I always have good things to say about either the Blitz Nur Spec or Afterburner Vortex, best exhausts about.

I was going for a Blitz Nur Spec, but then heard a cobra with 3" bore and 4.5" tail and was the light weight system, So bought the cobra and ive been smiling since, and saved myself £160, going for the decat downpipe next month,

For me it's the Blitz Nur spec-r every time. Whenever I'm back into Scooby ownership in the future, I'll be going straight for the full Nur Spec-r decat. Obscenely loud, but a fantastic sound. Other brands of exhaust I find to be tinny and raspy...

I had a HKS Hiper 409 on my old STi, full decat with GT spec headers. That was one of the best noises from any of the subarus i have heard. Loved it. Gone now tho' .

Thank you for your replies. Blitz Nur Spec S or R is there a difference? Afterburner who makes that? I thinking this Blitz nur spec thing is the way to go. The neighbours will be pleased.

Would it make any difference to the noise of my exhaust removing the resonator section.? As stated previously everthing else is gone but for the sports cat and resonator.

I'm assuming that the car wouldn't need a remap because I'm only changing the back box.

Nur Spec-r is the centre section and backbox. Pipe work is 3" however.

Nur Spec-s is just a backbox. Pipe work is standard 2.5".

Obviously Nur Spec-r is louder of the two.

Pipework is 3" but connects at 2.5" megaphone design same as the R's centre pipe which connects at 2.5"

I know that. The o.p. was incinuating however that they were looking to replace the backbox only, for which you will know a Nur Spec-r wont fit, but a Nur Spec-s will, as the Nur Spec-r pipe work is 3" through to the 2.5" join at the downpipe. that was the point I was making...

Yes I understand what your saying. I only want the back box so the fitting to the res section will be 2.5" on nur spec s.

You sure? On classics, the Nur Spec-s is named as it's only the backbox, but it also only has 2.5" pipework. I'm, assuming the same is on a newage Nur Spec-s. Can anyone confirm this, as it seems weird having a backbox with 3" pipework tapering down to 2.5" for the rest of the system - unwanted back pressure to start with. Somethings not right in that statement.
