Default Car overheated and started to pi55 out coolant

I went to my mates to pick him up, the car was fine so was temperature.

I drove out of his road then got 30 yards down the road and noticed a very high temp. reading on the gauge. got out and lifted the bonnet up and coolant was pissing out from a hole in the protective plastic engine cover underneath.

I filled the water up and drove it slowly home, with stops to turn the engine off to let it cool down.

I had a closer look at home and could see water leaking but couldn't see too much since it was getting dark so i left it.

My guess is its the radiator??? anyont else got any ideas? also does anybody know where i can get a radiator from?

Gutted as im off to uni on sat and the cars staying at home so might not get to drive it again till christmas

cheers

not sure what the protective plastic engine cover bit is?

But if it is the rad anybody that sells impreza bits should keep them (my local guys keep them in stock as the plastic ends normally fail)

The plastic cover is like an undertray underneath the whole engine. Its on all classics.

I don't have one on mine hence my query .

If it was dripping through that i would say it isn't the rad as when the rad end splits it's quite noticable.

hmm, well the radiator was steaming quite a bit and there was water on the radiator infront (air conditioning or heater radiator??)

also where the water was leaking from appeared to be just below the radiator

Best thing to do then is get a bright light (LED torch) and have a look at the plastic ends for any cracks.

Mine decided to split at the top drivers side(i was driving along and saw a wisp of steam and went WTF) but i gather it can split anywhere in the plastic but if yours is more of an actual leak i reckon you should be able to see it very clearly

My end tank split and it took me a few days to find where the car was leaking fluid from - not always easy to spot

turned out i was a metal water pipe that goes behind the aircon area
cost £20 quid but needed to remove intercooler and all to fit it!
