5th injectors in GC8 wrx

Default 5th injectors in GC8 wrx

a friend of mine who did a conversion recently picked up a WRX 3 Type RA engine with a 5th injector. been trying to find some information on that but not had much luck.


is anyone familiar with this? is this a limited edition. How is the performance effected in this?

It was there for homologation purposes, bu **** of no practical benefit on a car in 2008. Why dick about with a fifth injector spraying fuel into the plenum, when you can replace the inadequate injectors with uprated items and map/trim each one correctly?

The 5th injector's not used as standard,and don't know of anyone who has got it working. As GC8 said,it's not an ideal place to start injecting fuel,as it won't be easy to control what cylinder gets what. I disconnected the fuel line to it on my RA when i did the parallel fuel rail mod.
Just pretend it's not there!

according to this site... Type-RA.co.uk - Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA, Impreza WRX STi Type RA, Impreza Type RA V Limited, Scooby V. Ltd, visit the WRX forum & Subaru forum .. the 5th injector is non functioning..

is that right? why put it on at all?

As mentioned it's only there for rally car homologation purposes, I suspect on an actual rally car it did serve some purpose for anti-lag or something. For cars that weren't converted into group N rally cars it remains unused.
