Dont know the guy, but there is a major problem with scammers at the mo. To avoid any controversial comments, try to avoid the textspeak, by the way. Good luck with getting your money back.

£260 is a lot of wedge to lose. Dont lose faith with the guys on here, they are very quick to help, are very knowledgeable, and are tainted by the bad minority. Its a good site.

If you paid to his bank account he can be traced by the police.
There is too much dishonesty on this board to the point where it is becoming a doddgy place.
Good luck with getting it sorted.
What does the bank in question have to say. Did you pay cash across the counter or transfer from your bank?

i know its crud but if you want to sell something
list it on ebay and put a post tsating the ebay link and m,ust pay via paypal
then the buyer has some security and you will more than likely see a pic of said item, if its a sample photo and not original then buyer should beware!

Sorry you have had this bit of bad luck. My advice would be to let the police deal with it too and if they are at first reluctant to take it on board you need to be very persistant. £260 is a lot of money.
Give the police a concise written report on what has happened and copy out any emails, PMs, or relevant posts.
It is a relevantly straight forward situation and a pity the guy is outside our force area which will add a little bit of time but be persistant.
How did you get the car registration number ?
Unfortunately scamming on here and other criminal practices are becoming more prevalent and until the management wakens its ideas up and takes its responsibility seriously, it will continue.
