I am looking to get a front mount intercooler on my GB270. I hve done told to get a aps one is this right or wrong. I am hoping to tune the car to 450 to 500 bhp.

I've just fitted an APS FMIC to my RA-R. Nice bit of kit. I would check with Roger Clark (who are APS dealers) as to whether or not you will need a fitting kit to adapt the IC for fitment to later spec cars like yours. Powerstation had all sorts of trouble trying fit mine, but got there in the end.

To get up to the bhp that you have stated is going to require lots more than just a FMIC and the necessary turbo change. You would be looking at changing your engine internals also.

Seriously ?

Unless you are minted I would aim for 350 -400 usable BHP and get an STi TMIC. Follow this up with the proper chassis enhancements.

Should have bought an STi if you had those sorts of aspirations IMHO.

Why go to the expense of an APS when you can gbet a Hybrid kit for a fraction of the price.
I have cars with Hybrid and APS having done a couple of APS group buys in the past. The Hybrid core outperforms the APS. Now I am biased because I sell Hybrids but this is a factual observation. With temperature measurement equipment in the cars.
Without drawing this to Bob Rawle's attention he noticed this while we were mapping both of these cars.
Furthermore, he was running an APS which he has just changed.

I fitted a Hybrid care of Harvey.

Now I am no expert and there has been extensive debate on other threads on SN - but the Hybrid seems like a quality piece of engineering at a reasonable price - just my 2 cents. Opinions do vary

Not that I am doubting your your statement in any way, but is there is a chance you could post your results?

I am aware of the work i have to do to get to that mark. I picked the gb270 because you dont see one every day. As i was saying i know a few people with aps FMIC running 450 to 500 and was asking if they are the best for that amount of power.
Thanks for the input as i am really not sure at all.

In the cruise the Hybrid runs very close to ambient and rarely more than 2 C over. On hard driving on boost most of the time as track conditions will allow, temperatures can be 6 C over and not more than 12 C in rare circumstances.
The APS is typically 4 or 5 C over in the cruise, sometimes more and on hard driving 10 C over is quite typical and it can slowly creep to 15-17 over.
I have also noticed that when the APS has warmed up in hard driving it is quite slow to loose heat whereas the Hybrid drops to normal temperatures quickly within a short period of lighter driving.

I am told it's a similar story with the HKS. Basically the Hybrids are £4£ awesome
