Question

I've been quoted £103 for a genuine timing belt for a 94 WRX. Is this a reasonable price ?

Thanks for any replies

Thats about what I was charged by main dealer for UK MY98.

I wonder how much they cost to make?

Wink

Lewegie ,
Are you going to fit it yourself ? It is not the easiest of jobs as the radiator has to come out for access and even then it is awkward . I reccommend you get it fitted by a scooby mechanic - I did and I would tackle most things ( especially on a Saturday night!! ) .

I know a good mechanic who has always changed the cam belts on the various motors i have had in the past, and has recently replaced one on an impreza.
Finding someone you can trust nowadays is difficult and i dont want to use anyone else unless they come recommended.
Thanks for all the info, looks as though £103 in VAT is about right.
Just one more question though, the Genuine cam belt, who manufactures it and how will i know if it is a genuine belt or not.

Exclamation

Go into the dealers and buy it yourself is the only way to be sure . I got a garage to service my first car , a pug 205 , and told them to use genuine parts . Happened to check the brake pads a while later cause they were squealing and discovered pattern pads fitted . Started doing most of my own work after that .
