It does sound rather expensive judging by the prices I've seen uk cars going for.....What I would do is see if you can knock them down a bit
Then go for it!!
I'm sure you wont regret it!!
Dont forget that a good alarm system will set you back about £400 -£500 quid so allow for that too
Niall

Ahhhh... I can see how location could be an issue !!
As NAF said, see if you can knock them down a bit.... Make a trade off.
Try to knock them down a fair amount, if they won't go for it, try and get the Alarm/Tracker fitted as part of the deal
Owning a scoob on the isle of man.... You're going to enjoy this
Good luck with the negotiating.
Scott.

Why is "NO SECURITY AT ALL" an issue on the IOM? They can't go very far can they and selling it on would be difficult.
Anyway don't you still flog or keel haul felons on the Isle of Man?
I'd say it sounds a bit pricey for a 7 year old car, of the ragging variety.

Hi all,
Not ashamed to admit, Ive been drooling!!
What does everyone reckon to this at my local Jap Import dealers...
Subaru Impreza WRX STI(mark 1) 2.0 Turbo
Year - 1994
Miles - 41000
(Only downer is NO SECURITY AT ALL)
The bodywork is immaculate, cant see ANY scratches or rust ANYWHERE!
It has the later higher rear spoiler, and later STI alloys fitted
Big zorst!
All for £10,995
Is this too much for the year?
Not really gonna get a decent insurance quote without any security fitted...
(Im 31, 6yrs NCB, No convictions ever, and best quote Ive had is £994!!!)
What d'yall reckon??
Mark...

Sounds nice, but I can't help thinking that for 1 or 2 grand more you could get a 97 or 98 Turbo or possibly an STi3 or 4. (With security).
You may want to shop around a bit more.
Scott.
STi5 Type R (27 5Yr NCB Cat1 + Tracker + crap postcode £1190)

Hmmm,
Not much "shopping around" to be done where I live Im afraid (Isle of Man!)
There are some that have bought and brought one back from the mainland, but by the time youve paid to get it back over here, put it through the local test (pretend MOT!!)
and registered it locally, then theres not much to be saved...
Forgot to mention the 12 month parts+labour warranty from this dealer too...
Is this really a bad price for a 94 WRX STI?
I tried looking in Parkers guide, but they only seem to cater for UK spec Scoobs...

Cheers Guys,
The only issue I meant about the "No Security " bolx was for my wallet, when I get insured for it!!
Sure enough, there is next to no car crime at all over here, BUT Ive noticed a big difference in insurance prices between having security and having no security. With some insurers even turning their back all together if no security is fitted.
Ah well, I think Ive set my mind on it unfortunately, (I havent thought of anything but, for the last week!!)
I'm going to look at it tommorrow (saturday) and see how much trade in / knock down / extras deal I can cook up.
What dya reckon I should try to knock em down to for starters? (currently 10995)
I dont want to take the ****, and get laughed out of the showroom!!

Mark,
I picked up a 95 WRX for £10,000 last year, shop around if I was you. Have a look at "www.findit.co.uk" I've seen a lot of private sellers with scoobys on there for a lot sheaper.
You may also want to check out "www.webcars.net", they're a car importer in dublin who'm my friend has used a couple of times. Very friendly and reasonable prices.
Happy shopping
Neil
