Old shape Scoobys going up in price!
#3
I have a friend in the car trade who said the last of the old shape low milage UK Scoobys ie MY99 and MY00 are currently beginning to sell like hot cakes. Due to the ugly and slower new model. It's driving enthusiasts to buy the best of the old bunch - similar to when the Escort Cossie came to the end of production - boy did they hold on to their value. I did have mine up for sale but I think I'll wait a few more months to see if the higher prices for private sales filters through. (Fact - I've been offered 2K more for mine (trade) yesterday compared to 2 months ago)

I've already been approached by two people to see if I'd sell my MY00 X reg. 3500 miles and starting to get seriously quick. ( If they'd asked three weeks ago I might have folded but it keeps getting quicker and quicker )
I might keep it forever

I know a couple of guys who might be interested at that price. Is it a 'proper' UK car, or an EU import? Is it standard? Any extras? Any mods?

This sounds interesting....maybe all us "old style" impreza owners should hang onto our cars for a while...( so that there's high demand but short supply..) to see what happens to prices....MY01 is toooooo ugly.....

This reminds me of the Mk2 Golf GTi's that went up in value when the Mk3 came out. The new car at the time was ugly and everyone wanted the old shape. A M8 had a white Mk2 that went within minutes of autotrader being published.

Ok lets face it the price will probably never go up, but I can see the prices firming up a little rather than going into freefall. Which as a matter of fact happened to the last car I had, a run of the mill family saloon. It lost thousands, literally overnight!

Did you know dealers are offering the last of the old shape cars for 18995.My dealer told me this offer is available due to IM lowering the price to shift the last few.He recons any dealer can do them for this untill the end of Jan.
He also said If dealers have had some hanging around the showrooms for a while they will not want to discount them because they got them from IM at full price
By the way there were only Red Mica and Metalic Green left when my dealer enquired last week.

Dream on boys, what do you think will happen when there are Prodrive & aftermarket bodykits available. Then of course there's the limited run "specials" plus performance upgrades on the horizon.
As CLS says the best that can be expected is that prices don't completely freefall.

It is alot harder to imagine owning a new shape Subaru than it is to imagine the old shape price holding for a period Says it all.
I find the new shape offensive. Much like Ann Robinsons knickers
