White stuff on the dipstick is more likely water in the oil..imho.

this is probably due to the head gasket gone, I'd steer clear of it!

There are plenty of good cars out there, keep looking..

Welcome to the BBS too

OK thanks for that, i had thought that myself, but usually see it on the oil filler cap, never seen it on the dipstick before.
Ill keep looking.. thanks

Welcome to the SBB and I'll echo the reply of staying clear of a car that's got water in the oil - not good!

A Sport is a very fine car indeed and you won't be disappointed!! Ask the lads and lasses on here who own one

I got a Sport in Dec last year and I was also worried about high miles. It had 66k on when I got it but it's s blinding piece of kit and a lot better for the insuance than a turbo model. I've driven about 4k miles in it and not even a squeak, apart from the tyres that is. Even maanged in the snow better than the rest of the motors about.
Hope ou find a good one.

Thanks for the nice welcome peeps..
My XR4x4 was the 2.9 V6.. blinding motor, bodywork was mint but big end shells needed doing so ive sold the parts off of it, including the doors boot and bonnet!! hehe cos mine werent rusty LOL.
But i cant have a non 4x4 car again so the sensible choice is the impreza, and i like the look of them.
Must be all the rallying i watch.

Sparky75

I got a Sport (96) after having a 2 litre XR4x4 for about 4 years.
Much better.....had 111,111 miles on the clock earlier this week. Sierra was almost falling apart with less miles.
