Engine identification with no car?
Ive been given an engine with all ansilaries including turbo and air con etc. (exc intercooler)
It was going to be used for a project that never happened and was initialy aquired from a third party, making me the forth and with no idea of what year etc.
Where should I start?
I think I can regonise that it would have had the side on mounted intercooler and hence the older turbo exit.
Inlet is plain, not red, so that points towards a wrx, unless its as old as V1 and V2?
Wt possible turbos could it be?
Any easy idents I can look for?
The plan is to rip it apart, see where everything goes and sell a few bits dirt cheap on the way.

STi V2 RA had the 5th Injector on the manifold and CDB as you said.
You really need to take a cam cover off and see if its got hydraulic lifters or inner shims and see what codes are on the cams to narrow it down a bit.
