Default R8 style running lights ?? - ebay link

Must admitt to being a big fan off the Audio R8 style white led running lights so whilst browsing ebay last night was surprised to see that R8 style lighting is now available for any car !!

have put an ebay link to show what I am talking about, kinda expensive for all it is but see you can get them cheaper than the one in the link and suppose they are more than likely all the same at the end off the day.

normally this sort off thing would in my mind look taky but must admitt done properly to the right car I dare say it could look kinda smart.

anyone else impressed with these lights ?? anyone actually seen them in operation ???

Audi R8 / A5 Style LED light 48cm on eBay, also Bulbs Lenses, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 27-Aug-08 13:36:39 BST)

May look good now, but in a year or so will go down as well as Lexus rear lights IMO

Sorry not for me, as has been said, it looks OK on an R8 but will quickly look daft when it appears on everything. Once the aftermarket kicks in then it will really dive.

What illegal about them mate ?? sure as long as they produce " white " light then they are okay are they not ?? but go on point me to the relevant chapter on lighting which quotes this type off thing is illegal ??!!

When the officer stopped me, as he was writing out my ticket he said, "any light that is not a factory fitment is illegal, regardless of colour"
I don't make the law mate, i just pay the fine. Thing is, surely it would be humiliating if you are looking towards an Audi for inspiration. Why buy an Impreza and have it look like a chaved up Audi?

I had tiny blue lights set into the grill, so i said to the officer, "ok i'll replace them with white", so he said "you will not sir, any light that is not a factory fitment is illegal and if i see you again i wiil write you another ticket".

There is not an actual code that the police can use to citate you for.

I was stopped 3 times (different occasions) and on each occasion the Traffic Officers took around 30 minutes looking to try and find the correct code, however they couldnt and gave a ticket for my Plate...

Anyways took off the Blue lights and replaced with white ones, been police free ever since!

Blue is just obvious and will attract attention, white looks factory fitted and just avoids any hassle.

With regards to the LED's some people have fitted them tastefully, they look quite cool on the bike in this ad:Audi R8 Style LED DRL Light, Audi BMW VW Range Rover on eBay, also Bulbs Lenses, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 24-Aug-08 00:37:10 BST)

and on the RRsport:

Not something I would do, but I reckon when done properly, it can look cool, like on the black Range above.
But as said, a few months down the line and every other hatchback is gonna sport one... that's when it'll become the next angel eyes, neons, lexus lights etc etc

LED Lights are now being used by many different car manufacturers apart from Audi, the new Aston has the same lights, the Brabus SL, etc.. Newer models are now incorporating DRL Lights due to the fact that it will be soon compulsory for all new cars to have factory fitted DRL's (Not necessarily white Led's).

This isn't to say that I would put them on my car, however something can't be written off just because it was introduced by a different marque.
After all, the Subaru's came with TMIC's and the Evo's FMIC, how many Subaru's are now running FMIC's...

Horses for courses, some like it some don't, just depends on what look you want.

I think you'll find the subaru boys fitting FMIC's are not doing it just to look like an Evo... ..it's something to do with it just being a better setup for more power...

I don't think LED's will make much of a performance increase...

That aside... horses for courses....Halfords do good bolt on wings too....
