Default Insurance for PPP

I know this topic has been covered again and again and again, but the most recent thread I could find was from 2006.

I'm thinking of getting a 2005 WRX with PPP, but I've heard the stories of people having problems with Insurance Companies accepting the PPP, is this still the case or have the insurance companies accepted that the PPP is a factory fitted option?

If anyone can help me with this than I'll be very grateful

Cheers

I Know Admiral ran for cover when I mentioned it to them last year. I think your safest bet is to go with a specialist like A-Plan etc... (See the insurance section) That way if you do decide to add mofications at a later date (And believe me, it's a bug ) then all you need to do is give them a ring to get it covered without any hassle.

Every time I looked at it, the insurance was more than an STI. Only exception seems to be when Subaru bring out Ltd editions like WRX 300 or GB270.

It then appears on the listsfor the major insurers and the price is sensible.

I'm with E-sure and they took it as a standard car on a 05 wagon, they just asked if it was a 225bhp or a 261bhp version.
Having said that I'll be looking around next year as the premium is a little high for my age I think.

A-plan and Keith Michaels don't charge any extra for PPP over a standard STI.

Insurance companies who know their beans won't charge extra for PPP on 05 cars as it could be supplied with it from new. As previously mentioned, the insurance database refers to it as the WRX 261. Bob
