Smile NEW SPOILER

I'v ordered a new sti rear spoiler from Scoobyworld but I'v seen on hear talk about stronger springs being needed because of the weight. Can anybody confirm this or if not needed. Cheers, Mick.

Because the STi one is heavier, there's a torsion bar that needs to be fitted!!

From the Subaru site

Must be used in conjunction with e7218fe300 torsion bar

Don't bother.
I've fitted an sti spoiler to both my bugeye wrx and now my hawkeye wrx and both on standard springs with no problem at all.

Boot pops open fine with the lever, and plus u dont have to slam the boot as hard as the sti spoiler gives it more weight than the wrx one.

Only thing is when fitting the sti spoiler, u should drill a few more holes rather than just using the wrx holes.
Other than that u shud be fine.

I've got genuine STI spoiler on my WRX and its no problem. Boot pops up and stays up when fully open. Like boobiman says, the extra weight means you can drop it from a foot open and it shuts easily. Mine came already with the boot attached so I did boot swap rather than drilling extra holes in WRX boot.
