Default Major Problemo! Help :(

Hey guys, just a little intro to the problemo.

the supension and drop links are knackered on my 2003 sti, have been for a while now. last night i put on my new after burner exhaust (wicked! ), however i went to the pod today, and on my first run i think i was a little heavy on the launch, car was juddering and everything, anyway just carried on pinning it, did a 13.8 run. which i was happy with, however there was massive knocking noises when changing gear, like massive.

when i pulled up the idle was running funny, and nearly stalling, this kinda sorted itself out after a cool down and re start. anyway ive somhow lost an air con belt somwhere!! its just not there lol.

anyway the main issue, now when ever i put the throttle down on boost, and change gear, theres a huge knocking sound, its not very good at all, sounds terrible. just driving without really coming on boost etc is fine if im nice with the gear changes.

help!!! what have i done?

ideas i had

exhaust knocking on somthing?
droplinks screwed?
gearbox mounts screwed?
engine mounts torn?

i have no loss of power just a horrible knocking noise.

any ideas im pretty bummed only managed one run

cheers

Mine does this on a launch, it's the subframe hitting the bodywork.... Whiteline do a lock-kit and some extra bolts to hold the rear diff on.

HTH

Why go racing, when you knew about these problems? Doesn't make sense to me.

As for bushes, get fixed what you know was broken first.

ok a little update, got the car up on the ramps at work. im guessing usally engines sit flat in the engine bay? lol

mines now slanted down to the passenger side , not cool lol, its bent the brake reseviour downwards during the lurch. pretty sure at the moment that the engine mounts been torn off, but without a full check over, its hard to see. also my air con unit is bust. hense why the belt snapped.

anyway not in a good way, car still runs fine, but doesnt drive properly, its currently sitting in the yard at the moment, and im back in my company car lol

any ideas where i can get some up rated engine mounts?

also a new air con pump thingy?

cheers guys, not a happy bunny.

Bin the air con altogether.

Not sure on engine mounts, Mark at Lateral or Paul at Zen would probably be your best bet, given your location.

its a shame, the cars gonna be off road for a while now, while i build up funds theres no point just replacing the mount if the engines gotta come out i might as well do a **** load more stuff while its there.

ok so i got the car up on the ramps again today, the passenger side engine mount has ripped in half, and the engine has some how managed to jump itself ontop of the rubber mount with the circle metal bit. so in atual fact the engines high on one side due to it sitting on top of the mount, which is a slight relief, but im gonna need some new engine mounts,

any ideas on good aftermarket ones? and where i can get them ?

Zen Performance

It can be done with the engine in situ.
