Default Whos had a classic, RA, bugeye

Thinkin of going back to the scoob (nearly 10 years since I bought one)

Had a UK classic before and despite getting a few jobs done after buying it there was no problem with it for 3 years, budget wise the practical and sensible in me says a bugeye estate but I still like the classic and if they are a lot quicker for a laugh i'd have an RA

anyone gone from classic to bugeye (vice versa) or an RA in there

what do you reckon

Personally I haven't had my Subaru for long, its a 1996 JDM STi Classic.

There is a chap across the road from me who has a estate version, his is around the same year, both on P plates, his is an import too, and he says he wishes he got the classic because they look so much better. I have to agree with the rear end, but from the front the difference wasn't that much noticeable, apart from the STi trim on mine.

I dont know what an 'RA' is, I assume its a newer version of the STi? Probably stands for Real Animal or something lol, but the STi I have is a "Red Top" whatever that means, and has apparently had a bigger turbo and remap (in japan) to over 335bhp, I dont know if this is true or just BS selling techniques, but it boosts very very well i've been in other turbo cars with a approx 250bhp rating and I can certainly feel the difference in mine, theres no lag, it just goes all they way.

The only issue I had with mine is it needs high octane fuel as some of the nice chaps here have told me, but thats just me being stupid.

I think that if you need boot space for tools etc then get an estate, otherwise, get a WRX or STi (RA?) depends what you can afford because the standard Impreza looks better than the estate IMO.

Within the family we have had a Series McRae, and 2 Type RA's.
Without a doubt the STI RA's are the most fun.

Wilksey, Type RA stands for "Rally Altered"

Went from Classic MY 99 UK Turbo Wagon to a Bugeye saloon. With a map the Bug was a better built, quicker and comfortable car. Then to a modded WRX Bugeye Wagon to a WR Ltd Spec B GT Leggy now a STi Foggy.

Classic is raw, quick but build quality is not good.

The RA is RAW - very much so. No comforts & noisey. But awesome fun!!
I've had a UK99 & an RA & the RA wins handsdown. I've driven a few bugeyes & they are slow in comparison, but as said much better build quality & comfort levels.
Everything you need on the RA is here Type-RA.co.uk - Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA, Impreza WRX STi Type RA, Impreza Type RA V Limited, Scooby V. Ltd, visit the WRX forum & Subaru forum

Cheers

I went from a bugeye wagon with an Andy Forrest remap to a classic version 2 555 sti that has a front mount, apexi power fc and some whiteline goodies <-------( view my scooby for full details )

There is no contest between the two, the classic wins hands down.
