Default who to use for hpi check

Buying a scooby tomorrow - private sale. Its an 01 WRX with FSSH, but want to do a quick history check, Who would people use - seen prices ranging from 3.95 - 24.99. Who have people used for checks that cover all the essentials?

regards

Stu

I just went with hpi, was £39.95 but the guarantee the result and is a small price to pay when you stand to lose such a lot, they do want reg and chassis numbers though,

I used HPI last year when I bought mine and have used them in the past for my last car.Never had any complaints and was glad of the extra bit of reassurance.

The original £40 HPI is the only car check that truely checks for finance status.

Don't be fooled by the £4 car checks by others.

eh ???

where do you get this from ???

ALL experian checks do just as it states, they also tell you about plate changes aswell as colour changes,,,, the 40 quid ones is a company that relies on people like you giving the wrong infomation

you think main dealers pay 40 quid a pop each check ???, i used to HPI cars for the chassis number when i worked at ford if the reg wasnt input in microcat at that time

christ some people,, seriously

your all mental if you pay that much!!

https://www.mycarcheck.com/

£3.95!! you can pay more for more options, but for a basic car search to check if a car has been written off, if hpi is outstanding etc the one above is ideal!!

No not mental just read the small print. does not do finanace HPI check.

I HAVE USED MYCARCHECK IN THE PAST

Instead of actually checking HPI finance records it gives you a receipt that you have to get the seller to sign to say the car has no outstanding finance to his knowledge.

You get what you pay for.......beware.

Here you go Ginge christ!

Only a few select companies have access to hpi records. We ain't talking about dealers here in the trade

Somebody above recommended mycarcheck for £3.95 does every other check ie. stolen etc except hpi records check as stated in my reply above

Mycarcheck

For only £3.95, we protect you from buying a vehicle that may be:

Subject to Outstanding Finance2
Stolen (Police Interest)
Stolen & Recovered
Write off / Total Insurance Loss (Recorded Accident Damage)
Scrapped by the DVLA
Subject to Plate Transfers
Colour Changes
We also supply you with information on:

Make and Model
Number of Former Keepers
VIN (Chassis Number) Check
Engine Number and Size
Exported
Date First Registered
Year Manufactured
Colour

NOTE N0.2 NEXT TO: Subject to outstanding finance

Subject to terms & conditions.
2.Finance protection requires completion of purchaser receipt, supplied on completion of car check.

They don't have acess to HPI finance database
