Default Exhaust removel + fitting

People just got my new exhaust parts in and was going to fit it myself as i am can use a spanner and socket set!!!!

its just a very quick one regarding the downpipe

is it as straight forward as i am assuming that it is just the 5 bolts that need to be undone or are there any pipes clips etc that i need to watch out for, does the turbo heat shield need to come off to get to anything any pointers?

also i assume it is best to replace all the gaskets at the same time too?

thanks

steve

honestly mate id be ready with a replacment set of downpipe to turbo bolts as mine were absolutely mashed and a real pig to get off.
Definately worth spraying the bolts with lots of wd40 before hand.
I had to take my heatshield off too if i remember correctly, and would recommend new gaskets as mine fell apart when taking it off

Would advise taking it to a garage mate as you may need heat to remove the bolts as i would imagine they will be very difficult to remove without it and prob just snap.

got me there!!!!

ok thought as much

there should not be a problem with the turbo bolts as i recently had the turbo upgraded so i would hope the bolts will not be to much of an issue.

and i would take it to a garage but i am getting sick of the money in labour charges we have to pay to do jobs that we honestly could do ourselves if we gave it a go

Loads of WD40 or decent penetrating fluid along with the vital 6 sided socket/spanner. I had no issues on a 9 yr old classic just kept spraying the nuts/bolts for a couple of days first.

As for amount........I got 24 foot in length and 2" width which was not quite long enough for a classic downpipe although well past where the o/e heat shield was wrapped around the cat d/p, so I am happy that it is enough.
A newage d/p is shorter so that should be enough end to end.

I bought from this seller 'senwod666' item no 190222388163. £12.50 + £3.50p/p.

Not a technical job but not easy work changing the downpipe. Get a pal around to help, easier as a two man job... one under the car and one over the engine bay.

I did the turbo u/p d/p myself and in all honesty I wish I would have payed somebody else to do it. I got quoted £300 which I thought was a rip off until it took me 6 hours covered in ****e with cuts and bruises.

Did my Classic DP, no problems, no broken bolts but as said lots of wd40 helps, as for the rest of the system, i just replaced it 2nite with a Japspeed system (DP back) and it took longer jacking the car up/down than it did 2 change the system.

Regards

Just overlap it by half which will actually give 2 x layers. As I say 24' was jsut enough to get about 6" from the end of the d/p which is past where the o/e heat shield finished.
