Default Is a remap required???

Guys and girls I have recently had exhaust cats removed and have a ninja back box. The car has a green panel air filter and a dump valve, someone mentioned i should havecar remapped?! Is this the case?? Am i likely to cause any problems running as normal without a remap?? Cheers

Here we go again

You will get answers ranging from "Get a Re-Map NOW at £700 or your engine will blow up tomorrow" to "Nah, don't bother - is it running ok? well there you go then - save your money!"

You pays your money ...... I suggest you have a chat with the Mechanics at your local Subaru Garage.

You definitely wont get the best out of your new parts, but for requiring one, i doubt it.

My STI (Euro so UK) had Pre Det after partial decat and STI panel filter swap.

At the very least get a knock link, then u can see the implications.

What about a PPP centre & backbox? Will that cause probs without a remap on an 04 WRX? Don't want to wreck the car by putting it on....

A UK MY97 should be ok. Just as well, as they can't be "remapped" like the newer models. They need the ECU cracking open and messing with (or an aftermarket ECU).

Just need to check its running stable boost and not spiking, a quick dyno run checking that its not going overly lean wouldn't do any harm. Pre '98 UK cars usually run fairly rich on WOT anyway.

That's fine. (So i've read).

It's only when it's fully decatted really.

yes that will need a remap ideally,,, otherwise whats the piont in fitting them if you get what i mean

BUT at the min get the car fueling checked !!!,,,,, on the road not a rolling road where its REAL airflow

if they fueling is fine on the datalog then dont worry,,,, if its lean then it needs doing or the boost lowering till its safe
